DOSSHELL is available on DOS versions 4.0 and higher. UITS does not recommend its use with Novell NetWare. To add programs to the START PROGRAMS screen in DOSSHELL, follow these directions:

  1. Position the cursor where you would like to insert a new program choice.
  2. Click Program, then Add. If you do not have a mouse, press F10 to get up to the menu bar.
  3. A dialog box titled Add Program will appear. To move between fields, press Tab.
  4. Fill in the "Title" field. This is what appears as the menu option.
  5. The "Commands" field should contain all the commands necessary to start the application running. Separate commands with the F4 key, which inserts two vertical bars between commands.
  6. You can choose to fill in the "Help Text" field. The contents of this field appear when you highlight the program selection, before pressing the help key (F1).
  7. You can restrict access to a program entry by entering a password in the "Password" field. After saving, the password will be needed in order to run, modify, or delete this menu item.
  8. Save by pressing F2. The item should appear on the menu.
