ARCHIVED: With PC/TCP Telnet, how do I transfer files between my PC and a shared computer?

It is easier to transfer files from your PC to the shared computer using FTP, because you don't need to worry about a local password file or FTP server. Instead of using telnet and then FTP, make your connection with FTP in the first place.

If you must use telnet, you'll need to edit the password file in the c:\pctcp subdirectory and turn on the internal FTP server.

The password file is an ASCII text file, with instructions listed in its contents. After editing it, follow these steps:

  1. Press Alt-F10 to get to the Command: prompt.
  2. Press Shift-f to toggle the FTP server on and off.
  3. When the FTP server is on, type the following, replacing IP# with the IP number of your computer:
      ftp IP#

If you do not know your computer's IP number, press F10. At the Command: prompt, press ? for help, and then press i.
