ARCHIVED: Who may have an IU computing account?

This content has been archived, and is no longer maintained by Indiana University. Information here may no longer be accurate, and links may no longer be available or reliable.

Use of Indiana University technology resources (e.g., computers, networks, phones) is restricted to purposes related to the university's mission of education, research, and public service. Access to IU computing resources is a privilege granted to all admitted IU students and current or retired university faculty and staff, in support of their studies, instruction, duties as employees, official business with the university, and other university-sanctioned activities.

IU departments and organizations may also have computing accounts; see About IU computing accounts for groups or departments

Affiliate accounts are available for some eligible individuals who are affiliated with IU but cannot be processed through the usual administrative channels, such as the registrar's office (for students), the human resources office (for staff), or the Office of the Dean of the Faculties (for faculty). You should check with these offices or the personnel/HR coordinator in your area before seeking sponsorship as an affiliate. Additionally, the spouse of deceased faculty or staff member may be eligible for an Affiliate account; see Access to IU resources for official IU retirees. For more about Affiliate accounts, see Sponsor a computing account for an IU affiliate.

For details about account eligibility, see the university Policy on Eligibility to Use Indiana University Information Technology Resources.
