ARCHIVED: In Windows 95, 98, Me, and NT, what is the Quick Launch toolbar, and how do I add shortcuts to it?
The Quick Launch toolbar appears on the Taskbar and displays shortcut icons. In Windows 95, 98, Me, and NT, Active Desktop is required in order to have the Quick Launch toolbar. Active Desktop is installed by default on Windows 98, Me, and NT computers, and you can install it on Windows 95 computers when you install Internet Explorer 4.0. If you have Active Desktop installed but the Quick Launch toolbar does not appear, follow these steps to activate it:
- Right-click an empty part of the Taskbar.
- From the context menu, select , then .
In order to create a shortcut to an application on the Quick Launch toolbar, do the following:
- Right-click the toolbar, then select .
- From the menu, select , then .
- Either enter the path of the application or file for which you wish to create a shortcut, or click the button and locate it on your system. When finished, click the button.
- Enter a name for the shortcut.
- Click the button and your new shortcut should appear.
You can also drag and drop an existing shortcut on your desktop to the Quick Launch toolbar.
If you would like to remove an item from the Quick Launch toolbar, right-click it and select
.If you wish to change the location of items on the Quick Launch toolbar, drag an item along the toolbar to the desired spot. As you drag, a cursor shows you where the item will be placed.
