ARCHIVED: In Windows 2000, how can I add my computer to the ADS Domain?

To add your Windows 2000 computer to Indiana University's ADS Domain:
- Log in as an administrator.
- From the menu, select , then . Double-click the icon.
- Click the tab, and then click .
- At the bottom of the
Identification Changes
dialog box, in the "Member of" section, click . In the text box next to the button, typeads.iu.edu
, and then click . - A box should appear asking for your username and password. When
you enter your username, prefix it with
ads\
. For example, if your username weredracula
, you would type:ads\dracula
- Enter your password, and then click .
- Click again. A message will appear to warn you that you must restart the computer to make the changes active. Keep clicking until you reach a message offering to reboot the system for you. Click to do so.
When your computer restarts, it should be a member of the ADS Domain. If you entered an incorrect username or password, or if you don't have permission to access the domain you specified, an error message will appear.
