To add your Windows 2000 computer to Indiana University's ADS Domain:

  1. Log in as an administrator.
  2. From the Start menu, select Settings, then Control Panel. Double-click the System icon.
  3. Click the Network Identification tab, and then click Properties.
  4. At the bottom of the Identification Changes dialog box, in the "Member of" section, click Domain. In the text box next to the Domain button, type ads.iu.edu, and then click OK.
  5. A box should appear asking for your username and password. When you enter your username, prefix it with ads\. For example, if your username were dracula, you would type:
      ads\dracula
  6. Enter your password, and then click OK.
  7. Click OK again. A message will appear to warn you that you must restart the computer to make the changes active. Keep clicking OK until you reach a message offering to reboot the system for you. Click Yes to do so.

When your computer restarts, it should be a member of the ADS Domain. If you entered an incorrect username or password, or if you don't have permission to access the domain you specified, an error message will appear.
