In Entourage for Mac OS X, how do I access the ADS Global Address List?

To access the Indiana University ADS Global Address List (GAL) using Microsoft Entourage for Mac OS X, you must use Microsoft Office v.X and Entourage 10.1.4 or later. To configure Entourage to access the GAL, start the application and modify the settings as follows:

1. From the Tools menu, select Accounts.
   
   
2. In the Accounts window, click the Directory Service tab, and then click New... . The Edit Account window will open.
   
   
3. Next to "Account name:", type a descriptive name (e.g., IU Global Address Book).
   
   
4. Next to "LDAP Server:", for IU Bloomington, type one of the following: iu-mssg-adsdc04.ads.iu.edu iu-mssg-adsdc05.ads.iu.edu iu-mssg-adsdc06.ads.iu.edu iu-mssg-adsdc08.ads.iu.edu For IUPUI, type one of the following: iu-mssg-adsdc01.ads.iu.edu iu-mssg-adsdc02.ads.iu.edu iu-mssg-adsdc03.ads.iu.edu iu-mssg-adsdc07.ads.iu.edu
5. Check This server requires me to log on.
   
   
6. Type your IU Network ID username and passphrase in the "Account ID:" and "Password:" fields.
   
   
7. Click Click here for advanced options. In the box that appears, check Override default LDAP port: and type the number 3269 .
   
   
8. Check the box to use SSL.
   
   
9. Click the Options tab, and in the "Search base:" field, enter the following, with no spaces after the commas: dc=ads,dc=iu,dc=edu
10. Click OK, and in the Accounts window, select the LDAP server you just added.
    
    
11. Click Make Default, and close the Accounts window.

To search the GAL for names and email addresses, from the Tools menu, select Directory Services. To search the GAL while you are composing a message, select either the "To:" or "Cc:" field, enter part of a name, and click Check Names.
