On Libra at IU, what should I do if the output from my program is too big for my home directory?

If you need to run a program that generates too much output to fit into your home directory on the Libra Cluster at Indiana University, you can move your program and data into scratch space that does not have quota restrictions and execute it there.

For more information about available scratch space, see At IU, how much disk space is available to me on the research systems?

Scratch space is not backed up and is regularly purged (on timetables ranging from every 24 hours to every 90 days). It is your responsibility to back up your data. It is generally a good practice to back up your files to Indiana University's Massive Data Storage Service (MDSS). For more, see the MDSS Starter Kit.
