About copyright infringement in STCs

The Indiana University policy regarding Appropriate Use of Information Technology Resources expressly forbids infringing upon the copyright of intellectual property. You may not use a Student Technology Center (STC) for the express purpose of duplicating and distributing copyrighted material.

Examples of copyright infringement can include, but are not limited to, copying:

  • Audio on CD
  • Video on DVD
  • Software on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM
  • Original materials (audio, video, images, written works) that are not your own (unless you have the express written permission of the author)
  • Copyrighted photographs
  • Any web-based intellectual property, except as needed for personal use

Violators may be subject to disciplinary action and/or the loss of computing privileges.
