At IU, how do I set or reset my vendor password for Imail or Umail?

The password or passphrase you use to access your Imail or Umail account depends on how you reach your account. You may use your Indiana University Network ID passphrase to access your account if you sign in through OneStart, https://imail.iu.edu/, or https://umail.iu.edu/. However, you may also access your email (and additional, advanced features) via the vendors' portals using your vendor password.

If you have forgotten your Imail or Umail vendor password, you can reset it using your IU Network ID. Resetting your vendor password will not affect your Network ID.

To reset your vendor password:

Umail

  1. Visit: https://umail.iu.edu/
  2. Below the login button, click Set your password here to use advanced features (CAS login required) . If prompted, log into CAS using your IU Network ID.

  3. You should see a new page displaying vendor-specific password complexity requirements. Enter your new vendor password in each of the two boxes provided, and then click Set Password.

  4. A confirmation page will display "Password changed successfully.".

Imail

  1. Visit: https://imail.iu.edu/
  2. Below the login button, click Set your password here to use advanced features.

  3. You will be redirected to the Imail password reset page. Enter your Windows Live ID (e.g., username@imail.iu.edu) and fill in the "Characters" field using the supplied CAPTCHA. Click Continue.

  4. Choose the option you would like to use to reset your password. You originally supplied the requested information when you first accessed your Imail account. If you have forgotten your secret question, choose Send password reset instructions to me in e-mail.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions. If prompted, enter your Windows Live ID. Enter your new vendor password in each of the two boxes provided, and then click Continue.

  6. A confirmation page will display "You have changed your password.".
